Surprise Proposal at the Family Ranch | Oak Run, California
Jacob + Abbey
Tucked away in the rolling hills of a private Northern California ranch, a beautiful love story blossomed. This wasn’t just any ranch - it once belonged to Jacob’s grandfather, a place rich with childhood memories and gorgeous views of the mountains.
Jacob, Abbey and Reagan (Abbey’s sister-who also helped Jacob plan the perfect proposal!) arrived first to the ranch and headed up the hill on the trail towards the spot where Jacob’s grandfather was laid to rest. I arrived a few minutes later and started up the path. At a curve in the trail, Jacob stopped and turned towards Abbey. He saw me coming and that’s when he dropped to one knee and popped the question! It was a beautiful moment! And the ring? Absolutely stunning!
We continued up the trail, weaving through golden grasses and pausing for portraits in the warm afternoon sun. At one point, we even encountered a large snake crossing the trail, yikes! (But don’t worry, Jacob shooed it away and it wasn’t a rattlesnake, phew!) Every spot we stopped at was so beautiful. We had a great time!
After the session and getting back to our vehicles, we met up with the current ranch owner who was so sweet for letting us all come out to the ranch! Jacob used to spend his childhood summers at the ranch and even has the big barn and his grandfather’s cattle brand tattooed on his shoulder. It meant so much to him that they flew out here from Boise! And Abbey was completely surprised and thrilled.
