The Green Family | In the Downtown Forest

You’re probably wondering why “In the Downtown Forest”? Well, here’s why. When I edited this session I said to myself “It totally looks like we’re in the forest! But yet we’re in Downtown Redding, California!” This location is right off a main road and next to an iconic bridge in our area. But yet it just had that awesome foresty feel to it.

Let’s talk about this amazing family and then I’ll tell you what happened to me in the beginning of the session…

The Green’s have been like family to me for close to 20 years now. I first started attending the church they pastor when I was 8 years old (guys that was 21 years ago! I’m getting old…). I remember babysitting Mira (the really tall beautiful girl on the left!), when she was just a couple months old. I appreciate this family very much! They’re amazing.

Ok, now about my embarrassing moment…

So I’ve heard stories about things happening to photographer’s during shoots, like tripping over their camera bag, or dropping a lens, etc. But so far I hadn’t experienced something like that yet…until this one! I had everyone all in position on the river trail next to a tree, but there was a trader joe’s bag behind them. I couldn’t let that stay there, but instead of messing up the pose I had the family in, I said “Oh I’ll get it!”. I then proceeded to step next to the tree root that looked like solid ground…it wasn’t. Leg goes into the hole by almost a foot. Thankfully, I didn’t completely fall. I was able to just sit myself down until someone (Cayden) helped pull me out. And even more thankful that I didn’t break anything! I got the bag though! And moved it, and continued on with the session like nothing had happened… Phew! But boy that was embarrassing… Haha!

I just love these two images!

Lil Chase is just adorable!! And funny too!!! :)
